These dark, chilly months bring a host of East Central Indiana winter activities. If you’re looking for ideas for date night, family time or by yourself, read on to hear what our staff loves to do in the wintertime.
East Central Indiana Winter Activities to Keep the Fun Rolling
Snow-themed activities topped the list of favorite staff activities. Both Debbie Wilerson, patient health advocate, and Jen Schewe, lead lab tech, find the hills at Riley Park to be perfect for a bit of sledding (or tobogganing, depending on where you’re from). This is a great outing for kids and adults, alike! Dress warmly and add in a thermos of hot cocoa for extra delight.
In a similar vein, Cheryl Heck, nurse practitioner, also enjoys being outside in the snow. “I used to love to ski,” she reports. These days, however, she sticks to taking walks in the snow. Check out the wonderful walking paths available in the many parks of Greenfield (or utilize Gateway’s trail, just outside our doors).
Shantell Tharpe, LPN, likes to lace up those skates and go ice skating. Another favorite outing on Shantell’s list? A visit to Veal’s Ice Tree. This unique outdoor exhibit has been taking place for over 60 years, and never fails to delight.
Madeline Erwin is content to stay indoors and has a few favorite activities to share. Madeline finds that baking on extra wintery days provides a cozy way to enjoy the season. And, keeping the hope alive that spring is always just around the corner, Madeline spends time planning her garden for next year.
We hope these give you some ideas for how to enjoy East Central Indiana in the wintertime. There’s lots of magic happening, all around.
