May is Mental Health Awareness month which means it\u2019s a great time to learn more about Hancock Health\u2019s Connection Center<\/a>. The Connection Center is a hub for wellness as it relates to your mind, body and spirit. The Connection Center also provides support for mental health challenges, addiction issues, resource shortages and so much more.  <\/p>\n<\/div>

What does the Connection Center offer?\u00a0<\/h2>\n<\/div>
\n\n<\/div>
\n

When you reach out to the Connection Center you\u2019ll be connected with a Support Navigator. Support Navigators are equipped to connect those in need with the many resources that exist to help our community members thrive. While they are not counselors, the first job of a Support Navigator is simply to listen as a caller or visitor shares their story, listening for ways that the Connection Center can be of service. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

Sometimes needs are concrete, like needing food for your family or clothes for your kids, and we will connect you with these community resources. Sometimes needs are more fluid and a Support Navigator will work with you to determine what support will be most impactful for your specific situation. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Support for the Mind\u00a0<\/h3>\n<\/div>
\n\n<\/div>
\n

Mental health is a challenge for many, affecting up to 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. annually, with 1 in 20 adults experiencing a serious mental health episode each year. Statistically a lot of these individuals will not get the support they need; the Connection Center seeks to change that. We connect individuals to various resources for mental health support, like group and individual therapy, support for psychiatric medication, and other needed measures. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Support for the Body\u00a0<\/h3>\n<\/div>
\n\n<\/div>
\n

Substance misuse is a common issue for those seeking support through the Connection Center. Whether your struggle is with nicotine, alcohol, prescribed medications or recreational drugs, the challenge to disengage from its use can be intense and multifaceted. We offer various types of comprehensive support to help those struggling through addiction. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Support for the Soul\u00a0<\/h3>\n<\/div>
\n\n<\/div>
\n

Often, the issues we are dealing with can be mitigated through being in community or finding a faith home. The Connection Center works with groups and faith organizations of all kinds. It\u2019s hard to overestimate the power that community has on our wellbeing. <\/p>\n<\/div>

The Connection Center serves Hancock County residents, patients and Hancock Health associates. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Der Mobile Response Team<\/a> (MRT) is a group of highly trained professionals who can address mental health and substance misuse challenges within the community.  <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

The Connection Center offers classes<\/a> to help community members be active participants in prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

The Connection Center supports people navigating the judicial system through the Healthy Community Response Collaborative (HCRC), support for kids and seniors, those with disabilities and more<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<\/div>
